Grace and Empathy

Grace and empathy

God’s love and forgiveness are infinite. Sometimes it is hard to fathom the depth of grace that we are given, and that it is freely available to us. It can be a challenge to accept this grace.

A harder challenge can be extending the forgiveness we’ve received to those around us, but that is our call. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us” (Luke 11:4a, NRSVUE).

Even more challenging can be employing a posture of empathy. Honoring others’ perspectives, life experiences and pain connects us at a deeper level and allows us to better share God’s love.
