What is the World Service Fund?
The World Service Fund is one of seven apportionment funds designated to support ministries and causes important to the entire United Methodist Church. It’s the foundational fund that makes mission and ministry possible—through outreach, leadership development, service, and support for vital programs around the world. Apportionment funds are how United Methodist churches work together to support meaningful ministry—not just in their own communities, but across the country and beyond. Instead of every church trying to meet every need alone, we combine our giving to make a greater impact together.
Why Does It Matter?
The World Service Fund matters because it keeps the mission of the church connected, coordinated, and alive in places where hope is needed most. It reminds us that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves—a church that chooses to act together in love rather than apart. This fund allows us to be present in moments of crisis, build communities of faith, and carry out the Gospel in real and tangible ways.
