Thriving faith and fellowship for Filipinos in Qatar

In 2008, Qatar United Methodist Church started as a small devotional gathering in a church member’s home, which grew into an official mission of the Dubai United Methodist Church.

Today, Qatar UMC serves not just as a spiritual place, but as a second home for the overseas Filipino workers living and working in Doha, Qatar.

The church has established strong ministries, including a kitchen ministry, transport ministry and multimedia ministry. Their weekly worship services are held every Friday, the usual day off for many workers living and working in the area.

In 2025, the church celebrated their thirteenth founding anniversary and launched an outreach program in Al Khor, aiming to extend their mission to more Filipinos in the area.

Qatar UMC’s worship services are currently held in a rented villa, limiting their space and capacity to worship. The congregation prays for the ability to build their own place of worship within a religious complex.

At the 2020/2024 General Conference, The UMC officially recognized several countries in the Middle East, including Qatar UMC, as mission points under the Philippines Central Conference. This is a historic step that further strengthens the church's efforts to reach Filipinos in different parts of the world.

Despite being away from the Philippines, overseas workers’ lives are a testimony of God’s radical love and the enduring resilience of Filipinos. They continually hold onto hope, faith and unity.
