Lamb Victorious

Early Christians used a wide variety of symbols to express their faith. At times, these symbols provided a sort of secret language among believers. When a Christian met a stranger, he could draw one-half of the ichthys or ‘fish’ and wait to see if the stranger would complete the drawing.

Learn about more Christian symbols including the Chi-Rho, Alpha and Omega, anchor, fish, cross, dove, six-point star, pelican and others.

Lamb Victorious

In Christianity, the lamb represents Christ as both suffering and triumphant. The lamb is mentioned in the Gospels, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." (John 1:29) The lamb and his twelve apostles are also in the book of Revelation. (Revelation 21:14) Standing with a banner, the lamb represents the risen Christ triumphant over death.
