Church revives coastal communities in the Philippines

Every year, coastal communities in the Philippines face growing threats from pollution, land reforms, and strong storms. On the coast of Obando, Bulacan, Binuangan United Methodist Church marked its 121st anniversary by responding with action, turning its anniversary celebration into a mission to help restore and protect the coastline.

A coastal clean-up and mangrove tree planting activity brought together church members, local leaders, and community partners in a shared effort to care for God's creation. With 121 trees planted and 50 sacks of garbage collected during the event, the congregation is only just beginning its work to help in protecting the coast.
