Overview
The Finance Team of First Methodist Tulsa is seeking a Christ-centered individual, proficient in accounting with excellent time management and people skills for this position. Qualifications
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong commitment to the mission of First Methodist Church
- Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, finance, or related field
- 3+ years of work experience in Accounts Payable or similar role
- Firm grasp of accounting principles and familiarity with relevant laws, regulations and compliance requirements and best practices in church or non-profit organizations.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, excellent data entry and 10-key skills
- Proficiency in MS Office 365, particularly Excel and accounting software (Shelby or F1 Church management software is a plus)
- Ability to work independently and as a team with staff and church members
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
Specific Responsibilities
- Receives requests, maintains files, and inputs information into financial software for payments to credit cards, charge accounts and vendors
- Reviews, inputs, posts, reconciles, and runs reports on credit card account activity on a weekly basis and requests missing documentation as needed
- Prepares payables and checks weekly from all sources for approval and distribution
- Prepares and maintains cash disbursement files for Chief Operating Officer’s review
- Processes accounts payable mail, reviews and distributes invoices for departmental approval and payment
- Reconciles and requests authorization to replenish petty cash
- Checks out and logs company credit cards to staff and volunteers
- Completes credit applications for Chief Operating Officer’s review and signature
- Assist staff and church members/visitors with questions about accounts payable
- Prepares journal entries to post account transfers
- Prepares and files annual IRS 1099’s and 1096 for COO’s review and signature
- Reconciles clearing accounts
- Obtains and supplies tax forms to staff and vendors and contractors as needed
- Maintains files for vehicle registrations and completes annual tag renewals
- Records PTO to individual spreadsheets and FMC PTO calendar
- Assists Chief Operating Officer with other projects, as needed
Accountability and Supervision
This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). All church staff members are accountable to the Lead Pastor, the Staff Parish Relations Committee, and the Church Council of First Methodist Church.
