Role Summary: The Music Leader is a vital member of the paid staff team of Covenant United Methodist Church, a Christian Fellowship of faith that supports each other and our community, feeding the hungry and welcoming strangers, while living a life that leads to deeper experiences of walking humbly with God.  The Music Leader will have responsibilities that include working with the lead pastor in planning and leading meaningful worship experiences from week to week.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborates with the pastor, Music Team (choir and praise team), and Worship Committee in planning and leading dynamic and creative worship each week, as well as special services including Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter.

• Directs the Sanctuary Choir with a repertoire that includes both contemporary/modern and traditional music.

• Understands planning and leading worship and working with people of varying theological perspectives.

Other Responsibilities/Requirements:

• Participates in staff and church meetings as appropriate.

• Supports the ministries of Covenant United Methodist Church and maintains an active presence in the life of the church.

• Becomes Safe Gatherings compliant, including submitting to a background check.

• Other duties as assigned.
