This course begins the journey of transformational servant leadership that sees beyond the present to a future that God created and redeemed through Jesus. As each congregation chooses how it will respond to its current reality, the lay ministry shapes its response to become transformed leaders following Jesus’ model of servant leadership. Rather than seeking to be served, Jesus was a leader who sought to serve. The call to be a Christian transformational leader is not specific to where you lead, but how you lead like Jesus. The coursework and book provide a scriptural foundation, vision planning transformation, and the ‘how’ to lead with effective organizational principles. This ten-hour course, designed for participants seeking advanced certification in lay servant training, invites participants to study Scripture as a foundation for leadership, assess their current leadership skills and spiritual disciplines, explore established and emerging practices for developing leaders, and engage in personal and group reflection and assessment. This course has been approved by Discipleship Ministries as an advanced Lay Servant Ministries course, but it is not limited to those needing LSM credit.
