What is Christian Education Sunday?
This Sunday celebrates and supports the teaching ministries of the church: Bible study, Sunday school, small groups, confirmation and other learning opportunities that nurture disciples of all ages. It also honors the teachers, leaders and volunteers who make this ministry possible. As one of five Annual Conference Special Sundays, it is observed on a date set by each annual conference.
Why Does Christian Education Sunday Matter?
Christian education is foundational to spiritual growth. Discipleship is a lifelong journey, and Sunday school classes, youth groups and small-group studies give people room to ask questions, explore Scripture and grow together in faith. These ministries also welcome people who feel disconnected or uncertain. Through this work, we live out our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

While Christian Education Sunday is celebrated together on one special Sunday, the ministry of teaching and faith formation continues all year long. Because this offering stays within your annual conference, your gifts strengthen education ministries close to home through:

Each annual conference sets its own date. Many observe it in the fall, at the start of the new school or Sunday school year. Contact your annual conference office for the date in your area.
