Enrollment
- Organize and oversee the use of social media/email/church newsletter to advertise enrollment details (marketing)
- Actively communicate with prospective parents
- Register new students during times of enrollment and throughout the year as required
- Arrange and conduct visits with prospective families
Education
- Oversee planning and implementation of school curriculum in collaboration with staff
- Annually review curriculum goals for each child group
- Oversee individualized student needs, including all processes related to inclusion of special education students
Staff Supervision
- Interview and hire personnel (in conjunction with the Preschool Board)
- Provide orientation for new employees
- Regularly observe and visit classrooms
- Evaluate and review staff performances regularly, verbally and in writing
- Conduct regular staff meetings for administrative and professional development purposes
- Arrange for professional development education
- Determine class schedule and staff assignments
- Arrange for substitute teachers as needed
- Maintain clear communication with staff and support staff as needed
- Organize and implement preparedness drills
- Arrange assessment for 3's and 4's twice a year
Family Interaction
- Maintain clear and timely communication with student families
- Create, revise, and/or update policies for preschool families
- Schedule and facilitate informational and celebratory events for families and associated materials (holidays, parenting workshops, moving on ceremonies, etc.)
- Organize and oversee newsletter and written communications with families
Liaison with Community
1) Church - attend required meetings (church staff, Finance, Preschool Board)
- Work cooperatively with church staff (clergy, office, custodian) and Committees (Finance, Trustees)
2) Professional - maintain working relationships with directors, supervisors and support staff from the Area Nursery School Association and the North Penn and Souderton School Districts.
Finance
- Maintain attendance records and report payroll data to church office manager
- Work with the bookkeeper to maintain the program's budget and financial health
- Oversee purchasing of materials, snacks, etc.
Qualifications
The Director will foremost need to exhibit an energy and enthusiasm for working with young children. The position also required someone with knowledge of child development, program administrations, personnel supervision, and early childhood special education services in Pennsylvania.
Additional Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields:
- Early Childhood Education
- Child Development
- Special Education
- Elementary Education
- Or, in lieu of this, a bachelor's degree including 30 credits in one or a combination of the above fields.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with young children in an early childhood setting
Hours and Salary
September - Mid-June @ 30 hrs/wk
The Director is expected to be in the school building weekdays from 8:30 to 2:30. Flexibility is offered during hours when classes are not in session.
During the Summer Months
The Director is expected to continue to offer tours to interested parents for classes and waiting lists, to establish classes and to distribute class lists to the teachers.
The Director is responsible to: set the calendar; prepare class documents and summer mailings; order supplies; be sure class ratios are met; ensure staffing is in place, and notify families of opening schedules.
The Director will access phone, email, and texts, and return all correspondence as quickly as is feasible. The Director may accomplish any of this work from home as possible.
Amount: $30,000 to $35,000 - Dependent upon education and experience. Although work hours vary during the year, the annual salary is divided evenly between the 12 months.
