The Find-a-Church search tool now offers basic and expanded profiles to help you connect with a local
church in your hometown or when traveling.
These changes have been implemented based on user feedback to ensure The UMC Find-a-Church tool only
contains the most current and relevant information
Basic church profiles
These profiles offer general information to aid search users to find churches in their area.
- Basic profile listings show items less likely to change. They have limited detail as the local church staff / members have not verified the accuracy of the information and provided expanded data.
- Features include:
- Church Exterior Photo
- Physical address
- Attendance
- Accessibility
- Languages spoken
Extended church profiles:
These profiles offer more detailed information about the selected location, helping visitors find the local church that best meets their needs.
- Profile accuracy requires annual verification by church staff or members to retain the additional features and prevent the profile from reverting to a basic profile. This new step means you can trust the expanded information in your search results to be relevant and reflective of the individual local church and its ministries.

- All "basic profile" information
- Worship times
- Listing of ministries
- "Email Church" button
- Social Media
- Online worship link
- Phone Number**
We invite you to start exploring and adding/updating your user and local church profiles via the new MyUMC portal* page to ensure the most accurate and relevant information is shared with you and on your behalf.
*MyUMC is an updated offering for the services previously provided by the MyPortal system. Its appearance, login experience and functionality will differ from its predecessor. While we recognize this change will require adapting to a new system, we hope it will provide you with a better long-term experience.
**Please note: Due to technical reasons during our transition to the new platform, the ability to update the phone number field on a church or personal MyPortal profile is temporarily unavailable. Please check back at a later date if an update is needed.
