The United Methodist Scholarship helped me in a number of ways. With that scholarship, I was able to pay my remaining balance that semester. If not for those funds, I would be even further in debt or working myself sick to pay for school. Their generous scholarship took the weight of money off my shoulders, and allowed me to focus more on my education.

The United Methodist Scholarship also helped my confidence. I've found that as I get closer to graduation, it's more difficult to secure funding, and I didn't think I had the slightest chance at the United Methodist Scholarship. I applied anyway, telling myself that I definitely wouldn't get it if I didn't apply. Not only was I awarded the scholarship, but they were so impressed with my application that they shared some very nice things about me to the school! That act helped with my self-view, and my belief that even if I don't like my chances, those chances are zero if I don't try.
The church has always been a pillar in my life. My mom has been playing piano in our church in Jacksonville, Texas since before I was born. I've been going there all my life and go back every time I visit home. The church helped my family in many ways, and really changed our lives for the better. They have paid our electricity, and the members gifted me a very generous amount of money for college when I graduated high school. It may not seem like much, but the small congregation doesn't don't have much to begin with.
When I graduate, I hope to pursue a Master's Degree in Wildlife Biology. It is my dream to one day start a Nature Research, Rehabilitation and Education Center. There, I will share my love of wildlife and their habitats with others, teach everyone to love all of God's creatures, and bring people to God's temple- the great outdoors. The center will be focused on promoting research that can be used to protect wildlife habitats, rehabilitation, wild lands, and free outdoor education.
