President Roderick L. Smothers along with a selection PSC students, administrators, and board members were on hand Saturday, February 3rd at the U.S. debut of Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power at Crystal Bridges Museum of Modern Art in Bentonville, AR. The stirring exhibit features the work of over 60 artists and highlights the vital contribution of Black artists to an important period in American history and art. Philander Smith College is the only higher education institution serving as a sponsor for this historic exhibit which was developed by the Tate Modern in London, England and is only scheduled to appear in one other United States venue in 2018. Described as both powerful and challenging, this exhibit is on display at Crystal Bridges through April 23rd before traveling to the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
