Supporting Peace with Justice Sunday offers opportunities for young people within the Rocky Mountain Conference to lead social justice initiatives within their communities and build relationships globally.
We are blessed to have a number of highly-motivated, social justice-oriented young leaders in the Rocky Mountain Conference. This summer, these young leaders will work together with adult youth workers, conference staff, and their peers to organize advocacy and service opportunities across the geographic region.
Youth and adult leaders in our conference are also exploring opportunities for study and relationship building around issues related to the Middle East. These will include learning about biblical, political, multi-faith and cultural issues from historical and current perspectives.
Your support of Peace with Justice Sunday enables Rocky Mountain Conference youth and adults to speak up for justice issues and empower communities to advocate based on United Methodist Social Principles. Thank you for your generosity – even a dollar helps!
The Peace with Justice offering also funds the Young Clergy Leadership Summit held each year in Washington, D.C. at the United Methodist Building on Capitol Hill. Here are statements about the experience from two attendees:
"Attending gave me practical ideas on how to approach social issues from a pastoral and congregational perspective and to discuss these with other young clergy." – Rev. A. J. Bush.
"This helped the global nature of United Methodism come alive to me. It included soul-feeding worship, and learning more about issues that both shock and motive me like human trafficking and environmental problems. After my trip, I chose to preach a six-week sermon series on the Social Principles and why we as United Methodists attempt to address some of the most troubling issues in our current society. I don't agree with everything in them, but they were some of the most passionate sermons I preached all year."
– Rev. Emily Flemming.
