Connectional Table: What We Do

As determined by the actions of the General Conference and in consultation with the Council of Bishops, the CT has been charged with:

  • Discerning and articulating the church’s vision
  • Being steward of the mission, ministries, and resources of the church

2016 UMC Book of Discipline, ¶ 904

Aligning The United Methodist Church for greater missional impact around the world has been and will continue to be at the heart of the work of the Connectional Table. The Connectional Table’s primary objectives for the 2017 – 2020 quadrennium are to increase the capacity of the United Methodist connection to focus on:

  • Building relationships for deeper collaboration in a worldwide connection based on values expressed in ¶125;
  • Coordinating strategies to focus and steward the resources of the church; and
  • Connecting the story of The United Methodist Church's identity, mission and vision for our worldwide church
