This year's celebration of Earth Day, "Celebrating and Caring for God's Creation," will be celebrated April 19, 2009. Churches are invited to explore how stewardship of the Earth is a core value of the Christian tradition.

The United Methodist General Board of Church and Society, working with the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Working Group, has produced Earth Day/Festival of God's Creation resource materials to help congregations celebrate and promote stewardship of God's creation. A PDF file of “Celebrating and Caring for God’s Creation,” which contains worship resources such as call to worship, sermon starters, prayer of confession, and other stewardship ideas, is also available at: 2009 Earth Day Resource.

• The connections between global climate change and poverty;
