Malaria Initiatives of The United Methodist Church

Malaria kills. Every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria.

Every year, more than a million children die from this disease. Yet, malaria is a preventable disease. By answering Jesus' call to "minister to the least of these who are members of our family," we can beat this disease and save future generations.

For three years, United Methodists have embraced the life-saving power of a net. Our support of Nothing But Nets has helped send more than 1 million insecticide-treated bed nets to Africa to help prevent malaria.

In recognition of this and the tremendous impact that can be made when we work together, the people of The United Methodist Church have been invited to join the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and the United Nations Foundation in a nationwide nets distribution program for Sierra Leone.
