How United Methodists respond to emergencies

Formed in 1940 in response to the suffering of people during World War ll, The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) continues to provide a channel through which United Methodists may express their Christian compassion for people around the globe. UMCOR reaches out to those who are undergoing hardship and suffering as a result of natural catastrophes or civil disruption—often to people who are already among the poorest in society— to provide long-term recovery as well as immediate relief.

How you can be involved

Financial resources are a constant need and the most effective way to respond to a disaster. Each disaster is unique and calls for a particular response. Financial donations allow UMCOR to respond in the most effective, timely manner. When you make a donation, 100% of your gift will go to that ministry. (Your donations will be made to The General Board of Global Ministries, which is the parent organization of UMCOR.)

Online: You can donate to UMCOR’s relief and recovery efforts through the General Board of Global Ministries:  Give Now

Through your local United Methodist Church: For local church and Annual Conference credit, put your gift in the offering plate on Sunday. Checks should be written to UMCOR with the Advance number and name written on the memo line of your check. If you would prefer that your funds to go to recovery in a specific region, please note that on your donation.

By Mail: Make your check to UMCOR and send to: UMCOR, PO Box 9068, New York, NY 10087-9068.

By Phone: Credit card gifts can be accepted by phone (1-800-554-8583).
