First UMC of Mathis is a generous and friendly church. Our members are diverse in their backgrounds and interests. Our worship is traditional with flavors of contemporary.

Rev. Michael Dobbs is our pastor. His preaching is  Biblical and thought provoking. Pastor Mike is fluent in Spanish and sprinkles his messages and the music selections with it.

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transfotrmation of the world through compassionate community service, meaningful worship, welcoming fellowship and depening spiritual lives.

HOW WE SHARE OUR GIFTS


Our Hope's Closet Ministry offers gently used women and children's clothing for greatly reduced prices. It is open Wednesday from 9 a.m.-Noon and 2-6 p.m. 
We support the Mathis Food Bank operated by the Hands of Grace ministry. Each month the donations recieved from our Anniversary/Brithday/Celebrations fund are sent to the food pantry.
Our communion rail offerings support the New Life Refuge Ministries of Corpus Christi, fighting sex trafficking.
Our pastor participates in thge Mathis Area Ministerial Alliance, funding emergency needs, organizing community worship events, prayer breakfasts and activities with the children.
We are a five star church, meaning we give to mission efforts above and beyond the apportioned amounts in the United Methodist Connection.
