What To Expect
Thermal City is a small church with a family atmosphere. Dress is casual, the service is traditional, and the singing reflects the heritage of the southern Appalachian Mountains. The church is located in the Thermal Valley, which is in a unique micro climate called an isothermal belt. The south facing ridges above the valley traps are from the piedmont which moderates the temperature. Since extremes of either hot or cold are relatively rare, the growing season is extended, allowing many farms in the area to be especially productive.

Thermal City United Methodist is located just off of highway 221 near the Rutherford / McDowell county line. From I-40 at Marion NC, take exit 85 onto highway 221 and proceed south. About 8 miles south of I-40, on highway 221 you will cross into Rutherford Co. A short distance past the county line, turn right (west) onto Thermal City Rd. (you will see a large white farm house directly in front of you when you make this turn). Stay on Thermal City Rd. for about ½ mile and the church will be on the left.
The congregation is a collection of wonderful and loving people many of whom have experience working on farms and who maintain gardens. They share willingly with neighbors and friends
