United Methodist-related Research and Information
United Methodist general agencies engage in a variety of research initiatives and data collection that serve the mission and ministry of their program areas and the entire United Methodist Church. Below are links to agencies that make their research findings available through their websites.
General Board of Global Ministries
The Research Office of the General Board of Global Ministries provides data and explanations that help The United Methodist Church keep in touch with the communities among which we live, and the opportunities for mission right outside our sanctuary doors.
General Board of Higher Education and Ministry
At GBHEM, research is conducted on issues important to the work of the board and the denomination on topics affecting United Methodist-related Higher Education and United Methodist ordained ministry. The role of research at GBHEM is to provide empirical evidence for use in decision making, program design, and strategic planning.
General Board of Pension and Health Benefits
The Center for Health, with its dedicated team within the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits, seeks to improve multiple dimensions of health and well-being—physical, emotional, spiritual, social and financial—of clergy and lay workers of The United Methodist Church and their families.
General Commission on The Status And Role of Women
GCSRW engages in research to fulfill its mission, which is to challenge The United Methodist Church at all levels to work for full and equal participation of women in the total life of the denomination, including ordination of women, equal access to policy-making and recognition that Jesus Christ calls men and women alike to salvation, liberation, discipleship and service in church and society.

The General Council on Finance and Administration is responsible for maintaining a complete record of all United Methodist clergy, churches and pastoral appointments as well as collecting annual local church statistics.
