Our Work: Internal Operations
The Connectional Table has several working groups necessary to coordinate the internal operations of the Connectional Table. These working groups will utilize reporting mechanisms that go directly to the full Connectional Table Board. The Connectional Table By-Laws allow for the organization of these working groups to conduct the work of the Connectional Table on behalf of the Connectional Table as authorized by the body.
Article IV.A in the by-laws of the Connectional Table allow an Executive Committee to be created to “allow decisions with respect to policy and management of the Corporation to be made when the Board of Directors is not meeting.” The Executive Committee will be elected at the beginning of the quadrennium to serve in place for four years or until the next Executive Committee is elected by the Connectional Table Board. The members of the Executive Committee will be the CT Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson, the Treasurer, the Chief Connectional Ministries Officer, the two leaders of the Working Groups and the leader of the leadership discernment & community life committee. A president of an agency, and a central conference member will also be appointed to the Executive Committee. A general secretary will be appointed to the CT Executive Committee with voice but no vote.
The Executive Committee, under the leadership of the Chairperson, will be responsible for:
- Determining the agenda of the CT Board Meetings,
- Monitoring and reviewing personnel policies and procedures,
- Monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the internal operations of the CT Board, and
- Act on behalf of the Connectional Table Board as directed according to the By-Laws in between meetings.
Leadership Discernment & Community Life Committee
There shall be a Leadership Discernment and Community Life Committee that serves to execute the internal operations of the Connectional Table. This group shall report to the Executive Committee. They shall be responsible for nominating officers and other leaders for the Connectional Table as directed by the by-laws and as requested by the CT Board and/or Executive Committee. This group will also serve as the Committee to Eliminate Institutional Discrimination and as the acting Personnel Committee on behalf of the CT. There shall be no more than six members of this body that shall come from the voting membership of the Connectional Table. The leader shall be appointed by the Chairperson and Chief Connectional Ministries Officer of the Connectional Table.
The Leadership Discernment and Community Life Committee will be responsible for:
- Nominating officers and other leadership positions,
- Assigning CT Board Members to Working Groups and other groups as necessary,
- Monitoring and updating the Code of Ethics & Policies required for every general church body by the Book of Discipline,
- Monitoring and updating CT Covenant and Member attendance policies,
- CT Meeting Worship,
- Community building activities,
- All Personnel Committee functions.
Internal Finance & Evaluation Committee
There shall be a Internal Finance and Evaluation Committee that serves to monitor and evaluate the internal operations of the Connectional Table related to finance and evaluation. This group shall report to the Executive Committee. They shall be responsible for reviewing and setting the operating budget for the Connectional Table. They will also be responsible for conducting the internal evaluation of the Connectional Table Board policies and procedures. They will review meeting evaluations and conduct a Board evaluation twice a quadrennium. There shall be no more than six members of this body that shall come from the voting membership of the Connectional Table. The leader shall be appointed by the Chairperson and Chief Connectional Ministries Officer of the Connectional Table.
