Portland in 2016 will be Laura’s fourth General Conference. Bartlett recalls that, “The last time General Conference was in Portland (1976) I was an actor, singer, and instrumentalist with the choir that presented a musical event called 'Freedom Now' for the Area Evening. The choir was directed by my dad!  In those days the host area would typically present some kind of entertainment put together by local United Methodists.”
