Memorable points or quotes by speakers:
During the report of the General Conference delegation, the conference celebrated the fact that at this particular General Conference the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference attended its 10th General Conference with voice and vote! Also celebrated was the 60th anniversary of the ordination of women with the mention of our own Rev. Lois Neal as one of the first clergy women!
Main actions enacted by the conference (use back of sheet if more space needed): The conference approved a budget of $1,215,294. We celebrated the fact that out of all the annual conferences in the U.S. only 26 had paid their apportionments in full, and OIMC was one of those conferences.
What did your annual conference do to reinforce the Four Areas of Focus, and what commitments has the conference made for the coming year:
At the 2014 annual conference clergy and laity had a chance to sit together and discuss issues facing the church and the conference. Discussing such questions as: What is your church’s greatest challenge? How is your church involved in outreach and service? Where do you see your church in 5-10 years? Where do you see OIMC in 5-10 years? In looking at the responses, all four of the areas of focus were touched upon. This year the churches were encouraged to take these results back to the local congregations to see where they could become vital congregations and to also focus on the Four Areas of Focus.
Number of people ordained, commissioned or received into associate membership, and average age:
Two persons were ordained: The Rev. Jami Moss and the Rev. Sharon Yeahquo.
