2014 Red Bird Missionary Conference
May 2-3, 2014 in Annville United Methodist Church in Annville, Ky.
The Red Bird Missionary Conference met in its 46th session in the Annville United Methodist Church in Annville, Ky., on May 2-3, 2014. Bishop G. Lindsey Davis presided over our conference.
The theme, “A life of Service: Begins with Today,” guided our worship and our business as we were reminded to live as disciples of Jesus Christ. The Rev. Farley Stuart, conference superintendent, preached the opening worship and a service of remembrance. The Rev. Steven Riddle, Red Bird pastor, preached the mission night worship service and the mission offering of more than $5,000 was designated to Imagine No Malaria. The Rev. Kevin Baker led the Bible study on being a servant of God.
The conference rejoiced over being able to pay 100 percent of its general church and jurisdictional apportionments even though it was a much larger amount than in recent years. Though worship attendance decreased slightly, baptisms of new Christians increased over the previous year. The first balanced budget in 29 years was approved for 2015. Shirley Walker was elected the new conference treasurer.
