2009 South Germany Annual Conference
South Germany Annual Conference
June 17-21, 2009, Bruchsal and Karlsruhe, Germany
The 7th South German annual conference came together with Bishop Rosemarie Wenner presiding. The conference theme was "Give us courage!"
One important piece of business was a vote on 32 amendments, which were ratified by the General Conference in 2008. Most had to do with the creation of a new structure worldwide for The United Methodist Church.
In other business, the Bishop appointed Johannes Knöller to be the new Superintendent of the Reutlingen District. At the worship service in Karlsruhe, which closed the conference, one man was ordained as a minister and a missionary, who is being sent by the conference to Sierra Leone, was blessed. The conference honored four retiring ministers this year.
Membership (confessing members) of the conference stands at 17,245, down 247 members or 1.4 percent. The number of baptized members in the conference stands at 13,506, also down 1.3 percent.
