2007 North Katanga Annual Conference
July 16-20, 2007, Kamina, Democratic Republic of Congo
Kasap Owen Tshibang, chancellor of Universite Methodiste du Katanga, was the preacher at the 37th annual conference session, July 16-20. He addressed the topic of "vision," the conference theme. Following a reading from 1 Corinthians 3:1-9, Tshibang said vision is needed to develop churches and to enable projects to move forward.
"With vision, we have to stand and go for God's work and participate in God's vision," he said.
Conference Bishop Ntambo Nkulu Ntanda said God's grace has been bestowed upon the Democratic Republic of Congo with the establishment of democracy.
"Vision is creativity and if one dreams, he or she will be creative," said Bishop Ntambo. "When one is creative, he or she will be determined." The church of God cannot go ahead without creativity and determination, and evaluation and monitoring are part and parcel of the church activity, said the bishop.
Bishop Ntambo preached from Matthew 27:44-47. He said vision and the cross bring knowledge, reconciliation and unity to children of God. "If we accept the cross of Jesus, we will be guided in our vision, we will be humble, we will be delivered, and at least, we will know in whom we believe."
Conference membership stands at 902, and worship attendance stands at 1,254.
