Need help?

Life can be difficult especially this year and especially this season. If you're on this page, we understand that you may be struggling with one or more of life’s challenges. In a troubled relationship. Out of a job. At the end of your financial rope. Perhaps you’re worried about your kids. Or your aging parents. Or someone you know with a drug and alcohol problem. It may feel like you are at your breaking point. You don’t know where to turn or who to turn to.

It’s likely you have knocked on many doors looking for a hand up in hard times. We’re suggesting you knock on one more door – the door of your local United Methodist church. When that door is opened, we believe you will find someone willing to tell you how they can help you.

Many of our churches offer counseling, food pantries, clothes closets, assistance with utility bills and other services. And if they can’t meet your immediate needs, they can connect you with other resources or organizations in your area.

But first we need to know where you are so we can help you locate a United Methodist Church within your reach that offers the ministry or ministries that will best meet your needs. The phone number and address we provide in return will help you begin or continue your search for solutions.

It’s important to us that you know you’re not alone.  The people of The United Methodist Church in your area are ready to help. We can offer assurance that someone is listening. We can offer you hope that comes from knowing someone is on your side. Our doors are open for anyone looking for hope, love and acceptance this Christmas season.

local 2-1-1 assistance

Another source for help in your area is the 2-1-1 system, available in some areas by calling 2-1-1 and through the national Web site: http://www.211.org

While services offered through 2-1-1 vary from community to community, 2-1-1 provides callers with information about and referrals to human services for everyday needs and in times of crisis.

By calling 211, callers have access to information on social service resources available in their local community. 2-1-1 is a confidential call available 24-hours, 7 days a week.

The following types of services are examples of the kind of help available through the 2-1-1 system:

Basic Human Needs, Physical and Mental Health Resources,
Employment Support, Support for Older Americans and Persons with Disabilities
and Support for Children, Youth and Families

You don’t have to be a pastor or a regular churchgoer to pray. Prayer is just a conversation with God. But if you want help with prayer, people are available to help you.
