Sandra K. Lackore

Sandra Lackore has been the General Secretary and Treasurer of the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) since December 1995. During her tenure as General Secretary, she has consolidated the GCFA from three geographically separate offices to one central location, established a foundation to endow denominational ministries, established a denominational insurance company, and increased the understanding of and trust in the handling of denominational funds.

GCFA is charged with the administrative and financial work of the church.  In fulfilling these responsibilities, Sandra has guided GCFA members and staff in demonstrating to the denomination a cultural understanding encompassed in its mission focus, "GCFA—Serving the Church through the Ministry of Administration."

Before heading the denomination's general finance agency, she was Director of Administrative Services and Treasurer of the New England (former Southern New England) Annual Conference for ten years.  She is a certified church business administrator and has functioned in that capacity in a local church and as a camp administrator.

Throughout her work at all levels of the church, Sandra has sought to support mission through her ministry of financial administration

As her schedule allows, Sandra is a frequent presenter in the areas of stewardship and financial administration.  She has taught church administration and finance at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC, and Church Leadership at Garrett Evangelical Seminary in Evanston Illinois.

The Rev. R. Randy Day

The Rev. R. Randy Day is general secretary (chief executive) of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church.  The board is the international mission agency of the denomination and includes the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and the Women's Division, the administrative unit of United Methodist Women. Before assuming his current position at the start of 2003, Rev. Day served as a Global Ministries' deputy general secretary with responsibilities for Evangelization and Church Growth and Community and Institutional Ministries.

Since taking office as general secretary, Rev. Day has put particular emphasis on mission as it relates to children and youth, persons emerging from crises, and those who are pushed to the margins of their societies. He led one of the first delegations to visit the churches and people most affected by the tsunami of late 2004, and was onsite surveying needs within days of the Gulf Coast hurricanes in 2005. He has been instrumental in refocusing United Methodist attention on health as a mission priority, and in 2005 announced the eradication of malaria as a mission objective.

Day travels extensively to support and experience the evangelistic and humanitarian work of the board, including the starting of new churches in Southeast Asia, Mongolia, Honduras, and West Africa.

He is familiar with rural, urban, and suburban ministries. He was born in Roodhouse, Illinois, attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, and began his ministry in a small town in Illinois. He moved to New York City where he worked in urban ministry and became a district superintendent.  He then served parishes in suburban communities in the greater New York City area. Day received his B.A. degree in sociology and a certificate of competency in Southeast Asian Studies from Silliman University in Dumaguete, the Philippines. His theological degree is from the Yale University Divinity School in New Haven, CT.
