GC2012 End-of-Day Prayer Meetup, April 25

by Leigh Rogers
April 26, 2012

Every day at General Conference,United Methodist Women is organizing end-of-day prayer gatherings for all–delegates, agency and conference staff, clergy, laity and visitors alike–to center themselves amidst the hectic schedules and grueling meetings required to do the work of the church.

From The Book of Uncommon Prayer,p. 86 (adapted):

The day is done, God. We’ve done enough.

Center us now. Calm our minds.

Help us put today aside. The day is done. It is in the past.

All the things that bothered us today are no more.

If we were hurt, help us give the pain to you. If we were wrong, help us give the anger to you. If we hurt or wronged someone else, forgive us–and help us ask that person for forgiveness. When we leave this building, we put it all behind us. We can’t dwell in the past.

Jesus is a light to our path, and the path only goes forward. Keep us walking in the right direction, God. Walk with us. Amen.
