BREAKING NEWS: General Administration Committee offers no recommendation on restructure

by Heather Hahn
April 28, 2012

In a surprising move tonight, the General Administration Legislative Committee adjourned without having made a recommendation in favor of any of the three proposed plans. While all three were considered, none was able to muster enough votes to become the majority opinion of the committee. An effort to bring back the Call to Action/IOT plan was brought forth, but failed as well.

But those hoping to see structural change in the church this quadrennium need not despair. According to General Conference Business Manager Alan Morrison, proponents of both the Call to Action and Methodist Federation for Social Action can bring their original legislation printed in the Advance Daily Christian Advocate to the floor to be amended and debated upon obtaining 20 signatures (according to the rules adopted earlier in the week). Plan B proponents can also bring their legislation forward as a substitute motion.

Be watching for a full story tomorrow morning.
