Job Description – Respite Care Attendant for Special Needs

Position: Part-time, Hourly                                                                           

Reports to: Pastor of Mission and Operations; Dir. of Children’s Ministry; Dir. of Adult Ministries


This person will provide care for children and adults with special needs in the Special Needs Sensory Classroom so parents or caretakers are able to attend worship and/or Sunday School.

Principle Responsibilities:

Provide a caring and welcoming presence to children and adults with special needs, as well as their families
Will work with medical staff and/or volunteers to fulfill Safe Space protection of children and vulnerable adults
Will NOT administer any medicines or perform any medical procedures
Will provide care and interact with children and adults with special needs in a loving way to meet each person on his/her level
Will engage parents of children with special needs to determine the optimal care environment for each child
When possible, will engage children or adults in a lesson, craft, or read through provided Bible lessons


OT, PT, Special Education or other certification for working with the special needs population
3+ years experience in education or with the special needs population

Working Hours:  Sundays 8:20 – 11:20 a.m.
