Job Title: Director of Student Ministries
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Purpose: To lead, coordinate, and supervise a dynamic and inclusive Student Ministry by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach that is guided by our mission statement: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ.”
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Director of Student Ministries has the responsibility of leading the Student Ministries at Isle of Hope UMC, including all related staff and volunteers. The Director of Student Ministries leads and/or supervises all programming of education, discipleship, fellowship and outreach for students 6th grade through college.
Areas of Responsibility: • Lead and foster a growing, dynamic, and inclusive student ministry for Middle School and High School students that builds relationships with Christ • Foster relationships with parents in order to build Christ centered relationships with students • Recruit, train, encourage, and support student leadership teams, enabling all to work together to plan and implement student ministry • Supervise the Associate Director of Student Ministries and all of his/her duties • Coordinate and provide spiritual growth opportunities for students through worship, Bible studies, and small groups • Develop programming to support partnerships with parents of students • Oversee year-round Sunday school for grades 6-12, including teacher recruitment, ordering curriculum and resource materials, and being available on Sunday mornings to help as needed • Collaborate with pastoral staff on the Confirmation process • Plan and provide leadership for special events that occur throughout the year: mission experiences, retreats, graduation recognition, fall/summer kickoffs, etc. • Prepare and maintain the Student Ministries portion of the church budget • Lead and oversee student communications staff and strategies, such as website, social media, text alerts, mail, etc. • Attend weekly staff meetings, Church Council meetings, and Safe Sanctuaries Committee meetings • Ensure compliance with all requirements of the Safe Sanctuaries Policy • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of all student ministry areas • Engage in professional development and training opportunities to support the functions of Student Ministries • Other duties as assigned by pastoral staff
Qualifications for Successful Candidates:
Education: Bachelor's degree required, appropriate theological studies preferred
Five years of relevant experience in delivering a successful Student Ministry program expected
Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams
Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
Embrace United Methodist/Wesleyan doctrine
Full Time Salary commensurate with experience and education
