September Webinar to Feature Information Security

GCFA is proud to present another webinar in our GCFA On-Demand series - bringing our resources to you. On Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM EDT/1:00 PM CDT/11:00 AM PDT, GCFA’s special guest Spencer Rollins, LBMC’s Senior Manager of Information Security, will present information on the various ways intrusions can occur at our organizations and the steps required to protect our sensitive data.  LBMC is the audit firm that conducts GCFA’s security audits.

Non-profit organizations, especially smaller offices, often struggle with data security.  In addition, security threats such as ransomware have attacked some of our very own United Methodist organizations. Most data breaches start with the compromise of a single endpoint – a personal PC dropped on the network, a mobile device, etc. Unfortunately, our connectional organizations lull themselves into believing they are safe from data and technology intrusions.

This webinar will expose the threats we, as the Church, face in the constantly changing world of information technology.  During the webinar, attendees will learn how a plan of action and certain tools, such as security audits, can mitigate risks and help protect the Church and our individual organization’s data and property.

Our presenter, Spencer Rollins, has his MBA and is a Certified Information Security Auditor.  Spencer possesses over thirteen years of information system risk management and operations experience implementing information security and operational risk strategies that deliver practical business solutions to complex business problems.

This webinar is free and open to all annual conference staff members interested in this topic. Be sure to mark your calendars and tell your colleagues!
