GCFA Board Holds Last Meeting of 2014
The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) Board of Directors met in Nashville November 20-21 at the last quarterly meeting of the year.
At the meeting, and pursuant to ¶806.4 of the 2012 Book of Discipline, the board approved the budgets of the general agencies receiving general Church apportioned funds.
The board received and approved a change in the structure of the board of directors of the United Methodist Church Foundation. The recommendation that was accepted decreased the size of the board to 9-11 members. It had been previously set at 13-15 members.
As the certifying body for the Professional Association of United Methodist Church Secretaries (PAUMCS), the GCFA board certified the list of twenty-nine persons from the 2014 certification class and sixty-six persons seeking re-certification.
The board received a report from staff regarding central conference apportionments. The report indicates that a proposal for an apportionment formula will be presented to the Standing Committee on Central Conference Matters for consideration during its February, 2015 meeting. A final recommendation will be presented at the combined meeting of the Connectional Table (CT) and GCFA in May, 2015.
In other action, the board approved the recommended 3% salary increase for jurisdictional and central conference bishops. Deliberation on the increase took several factors into consideration.
The next meeting of the board will be in Manila, Philippines. The members will participate in several mission activities and hold a business session.
