At Auburn First UMC we care deeply about relationships. We believe that God has entrusted us with the precious gift of nurturing our relationships with each other, with our local community in Auburn, with all God's children around the world, and with God. When we come together as a community of faith, we: "Encounter God, Transform Lives, and Build Community." This is a calling from God, and we are blessed to engage in these opportunities.
Encountering God--When we gather on Sundays to worship the God of love, we fully expect that God is going to show up...that God is waiting in love for us to turn our attention away from the busyness of our lives and toward God. When we set time aside for God, we inevitably have a sacred encounter. We encounter through song and prayer, through scripture and reflecting God's Word. We encounter God when we connect with each other over a cup of coffee or in a Sunday school class. We encounter God in the vitality and love of our children, the searching spirit and sincerity of our youth, in the commitment displayed by our young adults, and in the deep faithfulness of our long term members. Expect to encounter God! Expect to encounter love!
Church can happen anywhere. It happens when we create learning opportunities that transform lives. It happens when we create safe environments where children can play and learn. It happens when education makes the path to citizenship a little easier. And when our sacrifices help nourish students’ minds and bodies. That’s putting beliefs into action.
