Elwood UMC has been serving the Elwood community since 1875. It is a small, country church, offering a traditional style of worship.
Visitors comment on the friendliness of the congregation. The members and associates truly care about each other, and welcome newcomers with that same care and concern. Each Sunday, between Worship and Sunday School, we have a time for fellowship over coffee and juice and an assortment of tasty treats. One Sunday every other month we have a church dinner after the worship service. Dress is casual. The service follows the bulletin, but we are informal, also. If a member or guest arrives and feels led to share a special song that morning, we welcome it.
Church can happen anywhere. It happens when we create learning opportunities that transform lives. It happens when we create safe environments where children can play and learn. It happens when education makes the path to citizenship a little easier. And when our sacrifices help nourish students’ minds and bodies. That’s putting beliefs into action.
