Welcome, and thanks for your interest in McKendree-Simms-Brookland United Methodist Church. We believe that we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in Washington, DC. That belief shapes everything we do, from our worship on Sunday mornings that includes a Deaf Ministry, to our Wednesday Meals that serve our community and homeless. We find that when we express God’s love in the community around us, we experience God’s love in a deeper way. That experience binds us together as a body.
MSB UMC is a diverse and vibrant community. Our congregation reflects that diversity, and that vibrancy too. We hope you’ll visit our church and experience it for yourself. We’ll be right here, where we’ve been since 1844—in the heart of Washington, DC.
*Beginning First Sunday in September 2011, the Sunday Services will be held year round from 8:00am and 10:30am.
•Breakfast is served after the 8:00am Sunday Services.
•8:00am Sunday Services usually last an hour. 10:30am Sunday Services usually last a little over an hour. Our worship style at MSB UMC is described as “blended.” We sing both traditional hymns and choral anthems, and include contemporary praise songs.
*Visitors are always Welcomed. Greeters and Ushers at the front door to point you in the right direction, give you a church program, and a friendly smile. There are bibles and hymnals in the church pews that can be used to follow the order of worship.
*Bring the Kids, we have Sunday School during the service and on specific Sundays, they can participate in the Children's Choir, and in the service.
*We have an active Deaf Ministry HICS that interprets services for the hearing impaired.
Church can happen anywhere. It happens when we create learning opportunities that transform lives. It happens when we create safe environments where children can play and learn. It happens when education makes the path to citizenship a little easier. And when our sacrifices help nourish students’ minds and bodies. That’s putting beliefs into action.
