What are the essential things that pastors need to know to competently lead a local church to a sound financial footing? What knowledge is needed so that pastors can be recognized — not as CPAs or financial analysts, but as significant participants in church finance discussions? How do pastors bring the spiritual, moral and justice concerns to financial discussions that might not emerge otherwise? And how does a pastor lead when finances are on shaky ground? Series Overview: At Discipleship Ministries, we are seeking ways to better help churches become more effective and more intentional in the making of disciples for Jesus Christ. When a local church receives a person by profession of faith, they pledge their "prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness." All are important ingredients of a growing disciple, but often generosity is something only mentioned in the fall in "campaign season." This new webinar series will help pastors explore how we can keep generosity as a key ingredient in the recipe for making faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Led by the Rev. Ken Sloane, Discipleship Ministries' director of stewardship and connectional ministries, these four sessions are scheduled every other Tuesday morning beginning on March 28 (April 11, 25 and May 9). We are hoping pastors will register for all and attend, or watch the recordings for the ones they can't make.
