Event Details

In our second session, we will begin to unpack the perceptions and baggage people often have in talking about money in the church. We will explore our own theology around money and identify the sources of defensiveness (our own and our people’s) when having these conversations. We will discuss how Jesus talked about money and possessions — not for fundraising but in disciple-making, with a focus not only on the part we give, but on the whole of what we have. Series info: At Discipleship Ministries, we are seeking ways to better help churches become more effective and more intentional in the making of disciples for Jesus Christ. When a local church receives a person by profession of faith, they pledge their "prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness." All are important ingredients of a growing disciple, but often generosity is something only mentioned in the fall in "campaign season." This new webinar series will help pastors explore how we can keep generosity as a key ingredient in the recipe for making faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Led by Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane, Director of Stewardship and Connectional Ministries, these four sessions are scheduled every other Tuesday morning beginning on March 28 (April 11, 25 and May 9). We are hoping pastors will register for all and attend, or watch the recordings for the ones they can't make.
