Event Details

Audience: Young Adult Women Men

During a two-week intensive immersion course, students will explore how norms of environmental and social responsibility are driving systems changes in two communities and they will analyze the potential for adopting such changes to their own communities. The first week will explore urban sustainability and resilience in Boston, Massachusetts, with a special focus on Boston University. The second week will focus on rural sustainability initiatives in Vermont, with a residency at Green Mountain College.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Cultivation of ability to identify and analyze systemic factors that are contributing to sustainability challenges in urban and rural settings.
2. Increased awareness of the connection among economic, political, and cultural factors in relation to issues of social and ecological responsibility
3. Cultivation of ability to analyze the sustainability challenges of one's own bioregion in dialogue with the systemic analysis approach used in the course.
