The Rev. Jose "Joey" C. Umali Jr is a preacher, writer, editor, author and broadcaster. He is a resource person on family relations, holistic ministry, Christian leadership, spiritual formation and creative Christian communication.
Umali currently serves as superintendent of the North Bulacan District. He is also Secretariat Head of the Philippine Interfaith Movement Against Human Trafficking; vice chairperson, board of trustees, Bulacan Ecumenical School; chairperson, Buhay na Pangarap Center of Excellence for Life and Livelihood; and a member of the Philippine Bible Society and Kapisan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas.
Umali is the former anchor and preacher of the daily Hardin ng Panalangin program of 702AM DZAS. Currently, he is the host and preacher of the weekly “Karunungang-Buhay” program over DZAS, and the monthly Laban Kontra Human Trafficking program. A former newspaper reporter, editor and movie scriptwriter, Umali has also written 15 best-selling books.
Umali and his wife Digna, father to his three children (Joel married to Elaine, April Easter married to Karlos and Jonathan married to Kathy) and a grandfather to five grandchildren (Polo, Kino,Liane, Gab and Anton).
Pastor Joey studied at UP Diliman and at the Union Theological Seminary, taking up Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Mninistry courses, respectively. He finished an MBA in Biblical Stewardship and Christian Management at the Asian Theological Seminary, with high honors. He underwent various specialized studies and trainings in the US, UK, Cyprus, Thailand, Singapore,Indonesia and India.
